Troubleshooting – monitor frozen, continually reboots/powers OFF, file system error

Created by Guy Smith, Modified on Thu, 27 Mar at 1:40 PM by Guy Smith

The following issues can be caused by a faulty/failing thumb drive:

  • Doesn't respond to keypad presses
  • "Stuck" in Record mode
  • Recording fails/error message
  • File system error message
  • Shuts off or continuously reboots when you insert a USB thumb drive

A failing drive can often be repaired in Windows, allowing you to copy off jobs. A repaired drive may work for a while but issues will occur with greater frequency. We recommend using high quality drives, keeping a spare with you, and replacing drives when they begin to fail.
