Choosing a Service Center for Your SeeSnake

Created by Guy Smith, Modified on Mon, 5 Aug at 3:46 PM by Guy Smith

If your SeeSnake equipment requires service you can find a listing of repair centers on the RIDGID website:
https://www.ridgid.com/us/en/service-centers-repair?w=3&b=57&t=13&r=30&p=1&l=4

Service centers vary in terms of pricing, turn-time, SeeSnake training/experience, and the type of equipment repaired in-house vs. sent to RIDGID. When choosing a repair center it pays to shop around.

Ask for a recommendation:

  • Other SeeSnake users in your area
  • User groups like Sewer & Drain Pros (Facebook)
  • Your RIDGID territory manager (your local RIDGID dealer can put you in touch)

Ask a few questions:

  • Is it a RIDGID authorized repair center?
  • Are the techs experienced with SeeSnake and trained by RIDGID?
  • Can they repair your specific tool in-house or will it be sent to RIDGID?
  • Do they stock commonly needed parts (pushrod re-term kits, for example)?
  • What’s their repair backlog?
  • What’s their shop rate and diagnostic charge?

Doing easy repairs yourself can save you time and money:

  • Guide hoop guards on Standard and Mini reels
  • Internal battery on the CountIR and CountPlus
  • Internal battery on your monitor’s main PCB (process is more involved and you should wear an ESD strap to prevent damage from static discharge)

Cable re-termination – this is the most common repair and most service centers do this repair in-house. Repair centers that keep re-term kits in stock for your camera can complete repairs faster, in some cases the same day.

Monitors – shops that repair monitors in-house can provide a faster turn-around time than shops that send monitors to RIDGID, however certain repairs, like re-flashing firmware or reformatting the on-board SSD storage, are only done at the SeeScan factory service center in San Diego, CA (858-244-6689)

Camera heads – SeeSnake camera heads are repaired in a climate-controlled clean room at the manufacturing facility in San Diego, CA. To minimize down time, heads sent in for repair are replaced with a factory rebuilt head. Repair centers that stock factory rebuilt heads will provide that fastest turn-around time.

Locators – some shops do basic repairs like screen and keypad replacement. Anything beyond that is done at the SeeScan service center in San Diego. As the OEM SeeScan has everything needed to repair and recalibrate your locator to factory spec.
