Updating your monitor software can resolve performance issues and give you access to new features. In some cases, especially with older monitors, reinstalling the software can fix random issues.

Update via USB

If your monitor has a USB port you can update or reinstall its software from a USB thumb drive.

Written Steps:

  • Thumb drive notes:
    • Faulty drives can cause issues, for best results use a new, name brand, thumb drive
    • If the drive isn't new check it for errors and reformat it. NOTE: Reformatting erases the drive. How-to video: https://youtu.be/fZsP3BgfMaI
    • Required formatting: FAT32 (CS and CSx monitors) or exFAT (CSx monitors w/software 1409 or later)
    • Drive size: CS series, 32 GB or less, CSx series w/software 1409 or later, up to 4TB
  1. Insert the USB drive into your computer
  2. Download software for your monitor: https://support.seesnake.com/csx-series/
  3. Open the downloaded folder (it will have a zipper icon) and copy the contents (in most cases two folders) onto the thumb drive
Mac Users: Mac OS automatically unzips the download so simply copy the downloaded items onto the thumb drive.
  4. Safely eject the thumb drive from your computer and insert it into the monitor
  5. Power on the monitor and follow the on-screen prompts. The monitor will reboot once or twice and alert you when installation is complete. If the update is not successful try again using Force Update.
Force Update
You can force the monitor to install software by pressing and holding the Still Photo key for ~5 seconds while powering on the monitor. NOTE: the CS-1000 does not support Force Update.
