Updating your monitor software can resolve performance issues and give you access to new features. In some cases, especially with older monitors, reinstalling the software can fix random issues.
Update via Smartphone/Tablet (OTA)
CSx Series monitors version 1409 and later can receive over-the-air (OTA) updates via the HQx Live mobile app. Check your monitor's OTA compatibility: Menu > About (version number displayed on the right).

Update via USB
If your monitor has a USB port, you can update or reinstall the software from a USB drive.

Notes on the USB drive:
- Defective drives can cause problems. For best results, use a new USB drive from a reputable brand.
- If the drive is not new, check it for errors and reformat it. NOTE: Reformatting will erase the drive.
How-to video: https://youtu.be/fZsP3BgfMaI - Required formatting: FAT32 (CS and CSx monitors) or exFAT (CSx monitors with software 1409 or higher)
- Drive size: CS series: 32 GB or less, CSx series with version 1409 or higher: up to 4 TB
Steps:
- Insert the USB drive into your computer.
- Download the software for your monitor: https://support.seesnake.com/csx-series/
- Open the downloaded folder (a ZIP icon will appear) and copy the contents (in most cases, two folders) to the USB drive.
Mac users: Mac OS will automatically unzip the download. Simply copy the downloaded files to the USB drive. - Remove the USB drive from your computer and insert it into the monitor.
- Turn on the monitor and follow the on-screen instructions. The monitor will restart once or twice and indicate that the installation is complete. If the update is unsuccessful, try again.
Troubleshooting:
- If an update fails to install, verify that the files are copied correctly on the USB drive, otherwise the monitor will not “see” them.
- Force Update:If a USB drive contains software, the monitor will ignore it unless the software is newer than the currently installed version.
- If you need to reinstall the current software, hold the photo button for 5 seconds while the monitor is powering on (Force Update).
- Forced Update is useful if you need to reinstall software on an older CS series monitor (NOTE: The CS-1000 does not support forced updates).
- CSx series monitors with software version 2.19.13 or higher do not require Force Update, you can simply reboot to the previous software version and then reinstall the update: Menu > About > Reboot to Previous Version.
