After a large number of power cycles RIDGID SeekTech SR-20 receivers (s/n 213-40188 – 213-54288) may stop responding to the Power key. This issue can be resolved by updating the SR-20 to software version 5.61 using the device update utility in the latest version of the HQ software app for Windows:

  • Update HQ to version 2.1.483 (or higher)
  • Install new batteries in the SR-20 (locator requires constant power during update)
  • Start with the SR-20 turned OFF
  • Connect the SR-20 to your computer (requires a USB-A to USB-B cord)
    • The USB-B connector is under the rubber cover on the bottom of the SR-20 case
  • Open HQ and run the software update tool

  • On screen instructions will walk you through the process
  • When the update completes you can verify the software version in the SR-20 menu (bottom menu item)
