Troubleshooting – Line Transmitter & Receiver

If your receiver isn’t picking up the signal from your SeekTech or NaviTrack line transmitter these troubleshooting steps can help you identify the issue.

  • If your transmitter’s leads are removable make sure they are fully plugged into the transmitter
  • If you’re using a non-RIDGID receiver make sure the transmitter and receiver frequencies are an exact match:

Listed Frequency

128 Hz

1 kHz

8 kHz

 33 kHz

262 kHz

Actual Frequency

128 Hz

1024 Hz

8192 Hz

32768 Hz

262144 Hz

  • Some SeekTech transmitters support frequencies used by other manufacturers, refer to the user manual for details
  • All SeekTech receivers support frequencies used by other manufacturers, refer to the user manual for details

Testing the equipment

  1. Set up a test circuit by connecting the transmitter’s two leads together
    • Make sure you have metal-to-metal contact on the transmitter clips
    • Spread the leads out to reduce signal cancellation
  2. Power on the transmitter and select a frequency supported by your receiver
    • You should hear an audible beeping tone (indicates current flow, i.e. a good circuit)
  3. Set the receiver to the matching LINE TRACE frequency (look for the line trace icon)

  4. Position the receiver over the transmitter’s lead and check for a signal
    • If the receiver doesn't register the transmitter's signal:
      • Confirm the transmitter's jaws are making metal-to-metal contact
      • Confirm that both units are set to the same frequency
      • If possible try a different transmitter and/or receiver
