SeeSnake FleXmitter Sonde Replacement Guide

Created by Guy Smith, Modified on Wed, 22 Jul at 11:17 AM by Guy Smith

The SeeSnake FleXmitter comes in two versions with two different CAT numbers. Published descriptions and images on retail websites don't always tell you what you need to know. Here’s how to make sure you order the right version:

  • Older (pre-2004) SeeSnake Mini reels with dual stainless steel safety cables: order CAT #15828
  • ALL other reels: order CAT #15323

How to tell if your Mini has single or dual safety cables

Look inside the spring — if you see two thin stainless cables running through it, your camera has dual safety cables.

Note: some older Standard reels also used dual safety cables. These reels also use CAT #15323 — see Resources (below) for installation notes.

What if I order the wrong one?

If you order the wrong part you can still use it — the FleXmitter sonde itself is identical in both versions:

  • #15828 can be used in a single safety cable reel by removing the pre-installed parts.
  • #15323 can be used in a dual safety cable Mini reel by reusing your old Locking Sleeve and Safety Cables.

Note: some retailer websites may show the wrong image or provide an inaccurate description. Ordering by the RIDGID catalog number will help ensure you receive the correct version.
